I believe there are three pillars for investment in one’s self: (1) Sound dietary choices, (2) Physical fitness, and (3) Fashion.  Each of these things, with the proper amount of attention given, make me feel good and in the process boost my confidence and self-esteem.  Most people don’t give it a second thought when making the gym or healthy eating a part of their daily regimen. But taking the time to pick the right outfit? Some might scoff at the notion. But for me, looking fashionable every single day is unquestionably an investment in myself that I consider on par with the others.

I feel good when I look good: When I feel put together I feel a sense of pride that I project outward. It has a way of lifting my mood.
Form of expression: My fashion choices are a great way of presenting a visual display of my personality. Am I feeling edgy? Fun? Conservative? Fashion announces to the world what part of my personality I am tapping into on a given day.
Creates and contains memories: I reward myself and my achievements with gifts of fashion. To be more specific, if I am working hard towards a particularly important career or personal goal and I achieve that goal, I buy myself a handbag. And when do I cash in on such a reward? When Matt and I travel. We factor a trip to a boutique into our itinerary in a given city. Then, in the months and years to follow, when I reach for that bag it has extra special meaning to me.
I appreciate beautiful things: Research shows that we react positively to aesthetically beautiful things – seeing something beautiful gives you an endorphin release. So when I wear something pretty or fashionable, my body literally responds positively. You can’t deny science! : )

Moving forward, I will be sharing details for how I come to many of my fashion choices, from short blogs, to photos and video. Matt and I will even take you on our shopping trips with vlogs. Keep an eye out for my content and let me know what you think. Gentlemen, this goes for you too! If you try some of these choices yourself, or you have your own strategies for fashion inspiration, let me know! I would love for this to be an interactive forum.
